1961: Warana Festival

Brisbane’s first Warana Festival, known today as the Brisbane Festival, was held in 1961. The Warana Festival features acts including theatre, singing, dancing, opera and other arts. It was Queensland’s first ever arts festival, and its theme was “entertainment by the people, for the people.”
